China will grant zero-tariff treatment to 98% of products from six countries including Angola

     The Customs Tariff Commission of The State Council of China announced on December 6 that in accordance with the provisions of the exchange of documents between the Chinese government and the governments of relevant countries, starting from December 25, 2023, 98 percent of the products originating from six least developed countries, including Angola, Gambia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Madagascar, Mali and Mauritania, will be subject to zero tariffs.

     In November 2021, China announced that it will further expand the scope of zero-tariff treatment for products exported to China from the least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with China. In December 2021, the Customs Tariff Commission of The State Council issued a notice to apply a preferential rate of zero to 98% of products originating from the least developed countries, and the applicable countries and implementation time will be announced separately according to the progress of the exchange of documents.

     China has granted zero-tariff treatment to 98% of the products of six countries including Angola, which is conducive to carrying out the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation and jointly building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future. In the future, China will continue to give zero-tariff treatment to 98 percent of the tax items of all the least developed countries that have diplomatic relations with China in accordance with the progress of the exchange of documents.
